About Us
Founded in London, Ontario, Canada, LifeLike BioTissue has been providing realistic surgical simulators to facilitate and increase the quality and ease of surgical skills training for over a decade.
Our passion stems from real life experiences of seeing family members and loved ones used as teaching opportunities for new surgeons. Although this is traditionally common practice in many places around the world, there are increasing medical, legal and ethical concerns about the use of patients as a learning platform for trainees. We see our technology not only as a way to change how we teach, but also a way to change how we treat those in our care.
Starting with simple conduits and tissues for basic anastomosis and suture practice, we slowly increased our product line to fit the needs of the growing surgical simulation industry. As our company has grown over the years, we have continued to invest to improve and advance our technology, increasing our capability to create more complex models for procedural based training. This has allowed us to offer a much wider range of solutions, including custom materials and models for medical device design and marketing.
As we continue to grow and improve our technology, our focus remains the same. We believe trainees and patients deserve the best experience possible, and we will always strive to help provide that.
Our Technology
We use a proprietary polymer processing hydrogel technology to manufacture our models. These hydrogels display an exponential stress-strain curve similar to soft tissues, and can be altered by changing the material processing conditions as needed. This gives us the ability to create a vast range of tissues and materials ranging from soft fat to hard cartilage.
Competitor products often include silicone, polyurethane, latex and rubber which do not possess the correct tissue feel and mechanical properties of real tissues. This limits the fidelity required for proper surgical training and does not provide a realistic experience compared to LifeLike's patented models.

Our products and custom solutions are marketed and sold to medical, veterinarian and nursing schools, as well as surgical skills training centres worldwide.
Medical students and surgical residents have limited opportunities to practice a procedure before performing on a live human patient. Our solutions provide trainees with realistic, inexpensive, safe and easy to use models that dramatically improve their hands on surgical skills.
